1954

Brice left Jepson Art Institute to accept a position as acting assistant professor at the University of California, Los Angeles.

1955

One-man exhibitions at Frank Perls Gallery in Beverly Hills and The Alan Gallery in New York City garnered positive press and sales for Brice.

1957

Brice was promoted to assistant professor at UCLA, his first step up the university’s academic ladder. He was promoted to associate professor in 1958, to professor in 1965, and awarded Professor Emeritus status in 1991, after 38 years.

Joseph Hirshhorn purchased three drawings from The Alan Gallery, New York City and eventually acquired 70 works on paper and paintings from the Perls Gallery, Beverly Hills. These works are now in the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum collection, Washington, DC.
